Join celebrated artist, Wynona Legg, SWLA, for a unique drawing workshop designed for those interested in exploring the excitement and creative challenges of drawing from webcams. During lockdown, Wynona discovered the wonder of observing live footage, online, of African mammals in their natural surroundings, roaming the savannah, hunting in grasslands or congregating at watering holes. We are delighted that, in conjunction with our Africa exhibition, Wynona will be with us to share those experiences and facilitate you to do the same in this unique drawing workshop. Location: Our webcam workshops will take place in our beautiful 18th century barn where you will be surrounded by our Africa exhibition - a showcase of the very best of African wildlife art. Real-time webcam material from Africa will be projected directly into the gallery for participants to work with, making for a visually exciting drawing workshop. Do I need to be an experienced artist? This workshop is designed for all creative abilities. We welcome complete beginners to those more experienced. Come and have a go! Your tutor: During the restrictions of the lockdowns, Wynona Legg took to exploring the creative potential of using webcams when drawing. Particularly drawn to those sited in Africa, Wynona was able to encounter and observe mammal and bird life undisturbed by human activity, and took to regularly drawing the creatures captured on live feeds. In this unique workshop, Wynona will introduce you to webcam technology, the exciting opportunities they offer the artist to engage with creatures very far away, and facilitate your creative response to the film through drawing.
